Pocketpair has announced that its Palworld dating sim, originally revealed as an April Fools joke, is now in active development. Titled Palworld: More Than Just Pals, the game features a mix of cute interactions and darker elements in a time loop narrative. The confirmation came in a trailer released on official channels.
Pocketpair released a video on its platforms, including YouTube, showing head of publishing and communications Bucky debating the project with company founder Takuro Mizobe. Mizobe, depicted as the Silent character, plays Slay the Spire 2 throughout the discussion, ultimately prevailing in the exchange. Bucky concludes by exclaiming, 'it's real,' confirming the game's legitimacy after years of skepticism stemming from the initial April Fools reveal and a hopeful trailer last year. Gameplay footage reveals conversations with Pals and Zoe Rayne from the original Palworld, alongside scenes of murder and mystery. The story involves a time loop where the player character is shot by a cloaked Black Marketeer wielding a revolver, evoking tones similar to Doki Doki Literature Club. This announcement follows Palworld's recent second anniversary celebration. The title is also expanding with a physical card game planned for this summer and a crossover with Ultrakill from late last year.
