PokéPark KANTO to open at Yomiuriland on February 5, 2026

PokéPark KANTO, the first permanent outdoor Pokémon facility, will open inside Yomiuriland amusement park on February 5, 2026. Visitors can encounter over 600 Pokémon in the Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town areas. Ticket lottery applications begin on November 21.

PokéPark KANTO is a joint project between The Pokémon Company and Yomiuriland, located within the amusement park spanning Inagi City, Tokyo, and Kawasaki. Covering 2.6 hectares, it features two main areas: Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town. Pokémon Forest utilizes the lush terrain of the Tama Hills with a 500-meter walking trail where visitors can observe the gestures and expressions of Pikachu and other Pokémon up close. Some Pokémon offer back rides. Access requires being at least 5 years old and able to climb 110 steps.

Sedge Town includes the familiar Pokémon Center from the games, the Pikachu-themed attraction Pika Pika Paradise, and the Eevee merry-go-round Vee Vee Voyage. It also hosts parades led by Pikachu and Eevee, Pokémon greeting areas, a shop for plush toys and goods, and stores for original drinks and food.

In a discussion at the site in late October, Pokémon Company Representative Director and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara told Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings President Toshikazu Yamaguchi that the facility culminates a 30-year plan stemming from the 1996 games Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Green Version. He explained the location's suitability due to its proximity to Machida City, Tokyo, the hometown of Pokémon creator Satoshi Tajiri, aligning with the Kanto region setting. Ishihara described the Pokémon sculptures as "Pokémon Live Models," emphasizing their individual expressions and gestures that evoke real animal-like relationships and imaginings.

Yamaguchi praised the lifelike quality, noting "each Pokémon has its own relationships; it's an experience unique to this time and place amid rising value in real-world encounters." Ishihara added that while five-sense experiences are becoming rare, they are increasingly important, especially for foreign travelers seeking authentic moments in Japan.

Tickets include the Trainer’s Pass (from ¥7,900 for adults 13+, access to both areas plus Yomiuriland) and Ace Trainer’s Pass (from ¥14,000, unlimited Pokémon Forest entry and one use per Sedge Town attraction). Lottery applications for February 5 to March 31, 2026, run from 6 p.m. November 21 to December 8, with notifications in late December. A Town Pass for Sedge Town only will be released later.
