Police detained four protesters outside SVT's TV building on Gärdet in Stockholm on Sunday evening. The group of about 15 protested ahead of the party leaders' debate in Agenda without a permit. Three tried to force their way into the building but were stopped.
On Sunday evening, as party leaders arrived for the leaders' debate in SVT's Agenda, about 15 protesters gathered outside the TV building on Gärdet in Stockholm. The group had not applied for a permit for the demonstration, according to police.
Three protesters tried to force their way into the TV building and, according to police spokesperson Ola Österling, planned to lock themselves to the entrance. "They chose to run towards the building but we could catch up with them. They were then detained and removed from the area," Österling says. Police and an SVT security guard stopped them.
A fourth person was detained after leaving the designated area and stepping into the street, disrupting traffic. Police say the individuals disturbed public order. No criminal investigations have been initiated, but a report for breach of the public order act may follow, Österling states.
Protesters chanted "free Palestine," according to on-site reports. Their shouts were heard in the background of SVT's live broadcast.
