Prime Minister Abiy says large industries emerging in all sectors

Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed stated that large industries are being established across all sectors in an interview with Qana TV. He noted significant revenue from industrial import substitution now. Five solar plants are exporting products.

Addis Ababa, Megabit 16, 2018 EC (Fana) - Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed told Qana TV, under the theme 'City, Territory, Kilometer and Corridor Development,' that large industries are being built across all sectors. He contrasted this with the past, when no conducive general business environment existed to draw investors into the country. Now, substantial improvements are evident. A few years ago, revenue from industrial import substitution did not exceed 250 million. The prime minister emphasized that industries are now yielding significant income from this area. Notably, five solar power plants have begun operations and are supplying products to foreign markets. 'From solar alone, in the coming year, we will earn 1 billion dollars,' stated Prime Minister Abiy. He warned that factories in free trade zones, if they operate without fully utilizing their capacity or adding new ones, would waste their productivity potential.
