At an Octoberfest event organized by the Moderate Youth League (Muf) in Gothenburg, a few participants sang the racist phrase 'ausländer raus'. The incident, witnessed by a Green Youth profile, is now under investigation by the organization, which views it gravely. The song's origins trace back to far-right circles in Germany.

The incident occurred on Saturday at a sitting for moderate student members in Gothenburg, organized by Moderata Studenter i Göteborg and a local branch of Fria moderata studentförbundet. According to witness Anton Bylin, spokesperson for Grön Ungdom, who was dining at the Green Party's office in the same building, the song 'L’amour Toujours' by Gigi D'Agostino played twice during the evening, after a speech. The chorus was altered to 'ausländer raus,' meaning 'foreigners out' in Swedish.

Bylin recounts: 'We reacted immediately. They had been playing a lot of German songs before because it was Octoberfest. And then we were like, what the hell was that?' He adds: 'I thought it was completely insane. We were all shocked because it was so obvious. It's not a coincidence that the song comes on twice. Someone chose it.'

The song was adopted by far-right circles in Germany in autumn 2023 and spread in racist contexts. Last year, MP David Lång (SD) resigned after singing the words at an EU election watch party.

Muf district chair Wilhelm Warborn in Gothenburg states that a few of the 20–30 participants sang the chant, and he halted the event upon learning of it. According to the organization, the song played only once and was then turned off. Warborn writes: 'During the evening, it emerged that individuals on site had sung an inappropriate chant to the chorus of 'L’Amour Toujours.' We view the incident seriously, and the individuals' actions do not reflect the values our organization stands for and accepts.'

General Secretary Carl Hedenbergh confirms: 'We view the incident seriously.' A membership case has been opened to investigate what happened, but the organization does not comment on individual cases. Aftonbladet sought comment from Ulf Kristersson (M).
