Redhawks defeat Färjestad and attract more fans

Malmö Redhawks beat Färjestad 2–1 in a match that drew 8,006 spectators to the arena. Calle Persson tied his personal goal record with 15 goals this season, and the team now has three straight wins. Interest in the club is growing dramatically, according to CEO Patrik Sylvegård.

Malmö Redhawks are in good form after a 2–1 victory over Färjestad in the SHL. The first goal came early from Fredrik Händemark, assisted by Calle Persson, and Persson himself made it 2–0 with his 15th goal of the season – tying his personal career record. Despite Färjestad having more shots (24–39), goalkeeper Marek Langhamer saved the day with strong performances.

Persson, determined to break the record, says: “We really hope I do.” He also notes the growing interest: “You can clearly see that interest has grown in the city. It’s good that we respond with wins at home when the city comes to support us.”

The attendance of 8,006 is the latest in a series of strong figures; four matches this year have exceeded 10,000 spectators. The average attendance has risen from 7,193 last season to 7,796 now. CEO Patrik Sylvegård states: “Interest has increased dramatically.” He views 8,000 as a realistic average target going forward.

Chairman Mats Larsson is pleased with the financial impact: “Economically, the forecast indicates we will exceed the ticket sales budget by over one million kronor. It strengthens the result, of course, but above all improves our liquidity.”

The win bolsters the team’s confidence, and fans chanted traditional songs like “Malmööö, Malmööö” in the arena.
