Seven persons have been reportedly killed and several others injured in a two-day attack by suspected armed herdsmen on Channel One community in Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward of Logo Local Government Area, Benue State. The attacks began over the weekend and continued into Monday afternoon, displacing residents. Local officials have confirmed the casualties and called for security intervention.
A fresh wave of violence struck Benue State when suspected armed herdsmen attacked Channel One, a border settlement along the Arufu–Wukari road in Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward of Logo LGA. The assault, which started late Saturday and extended into Sunday night and Monday afternoon, left seven people dead and several injured, according to local reports.
A community leader, speaking anonymously, described how attackers arrived in large numbers on motorcycles, armed with firearms, and shot indiscriminately. "Seven persons have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained life-threatening injuries," the leader said. The injured were taken to medical facilities in Anyiin town, with critical cases transferred to Ugba in Logo LGA. The source suspected the attackers operated from Shaor, a deserted village noted in intelligence reports.
The violence prompted mass displacement as residents fled Channel One and nearby areas fearing further assaults. The community leader urged coordinated clearance operations in suspected hideouts like Shaor and enhanced border security across Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba states.
Logo LGA Chairman Clement Kav confirmed the toll: "They killed seven persons and injured four others." He noted the attackers fled after the assault and said he had informed the Commissioner of Police and the Adviser on Homeland Security. Police Public Relations Officer DSP Udeme Edet stated the command had not yet received official details at the time of the report.
