Sherrone Moore, the former University of Michigan Wolverines head football coach fired earlier this week for an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, was released from Washtenaw County Jail on Friday after posting a $25,000 bond at his arraignment on felony home invasion and misdemeanor charges.
Sherrone Moore, 39, appeared via Zoom for arraignment on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Washtenaw County court on charges stemming from his arrest the previous Wednesday, hours after his termination from the University of Michigan.
Prosecutors allege that after the woman ended their years-long relationship on December 8, Moore sent numerous texts and calls. Following his firing on December 10, he allegedly entered her home without permission, searched a kitchen drawer for butter knives and scissors, and stated, 'I am going to kill myself. I'm going to make you watch. My blood is on your hands. You ruined my life.' While no direct threats were made against her, prosecutors described the behavior as terrorizing, citing a 911 call where she reported a male 'attacking' her after months of stalking. They argued Moore poses a public safety risk.
His attorney, Joe Simon, denied any threat to the victim, highlighted Moore's lack of prior criminal history, and referenced two mental health evaluations. The judge approved a $25,000 cash surety bond with conditions including a GPS tether, mandatory mental health treatment, no contact with the victim, no alcohol or drugs, no weapons, and no leaving Michigan. Moore was released the same day.
The incident follows Moore's dismissal, announced by athletic director Warde Manuel as a violation of university policy. Reports have noted prior concerns about his behavior among staff. Moore, married with children, is due back in court on January 22, 2026.
