Former WWE NXT General Manager Simone Johnson said her mother Dany Garcia played a major behind-the-scenes role in Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's acting career. The comments came during an appearance on the podcast "The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi." Johnson also discussed her parents' amicable divorce and her current work with her mother's company.
Johnson revealed that her parents divorced when she was seven but remained close friends afterward. She credited Garcia with much of her father's success, noting that Garcia handled extensive behind-the-scenes work even as Johnson praised The Rock's talent as an actor and entertainer.
Garcia now owns a management company and is preparing to launch a clothing brand called Danimas, described as high-end athleisure suitable for the gym or other settings. Johnson said she has joined the company since leaving WWE earlier this year after choosing not to renew her contract.
Johnson added that she speaks with her mother daily and values their improved closeness, even though Garcia is not her direct boss. She described Garcia as having a strong eye for opportunity across roles that have included management and bodybuilding.
