South Korea's monthly exports surpassed $100 billion for the first time in June, driven by record semiconductor shipments.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, outbound shipments surged 70.9 percent on-year to $102.25 billion in June. Imports rose 30.1 percent to $66.1 billion, producing a trade surplus of $36.15 billion, the first monthly figure above $30 billion.
Semiconductor exports nearly tripled to $44.82 billion, while computer product shipments soared more than 300 percent to $5.41 billion. Exports to China and the United States each reached $20 billion.
