St. George Sports Club in Addis Ababa has secured a 100 million birr donation to ward off bankruptcy after facing six months of unpaid salaries.

The funds were provided by Midrock Investment Group and BGI Ethiopia in a swift response to the club's temporary committee. Addis Ababa's city administration facilitated the aid through its mayor's social responsibility initiatives, uniting various stakeholders.

Club officials emphasized that St. George is not just a football team or its members but a strong pillar of the city. "This historic sports club that has represented our country and city bears the responsibility to strengthen it from collapse," they stated.

In gratitude on behalf of the sports family, the club hailed the donors. Officials expressed confidence that with transparency and a new board, the club will soon return to its former strength amid the temporary challenges.
