Mechal athletics team wins gold at world military championship

Ethiopia's Mechal Sport Club athletics team has won a gold medal at the 60th World Military Nations Athletics Championship held in Trikala, Greece. The team secured first place in the team relay event among 38 participating countries. This marks the first such achievement for the Ethiopian Defense Force's sports club.

Addis Ababa, Ketit 23, 2018 (FBC) – Ethiopia's Mechal Sport Club athletics team achieved a significant milestone at the 60th World Military Nations Athletics Championship in Trikala, Greece.

With 38 countries competing, the team clinched the gold medal by taking first place in the team relay event. This success represents the first gold medal win for athletes from the Ethiopian Defense Force's Mechal Sport Club in this competition.

The participating athletes include Amsha Aleqa Dejene Teshome, Asra Aleqa Yobsan Biru, Meseret Molugeta, and Meseret Chaltu Tadesse. These competitors secured the top position through their combined efforts in the relay. The championship focuses on military nations' athletics, and this marks the Ethiopian team's inaugural gold in such an event.
