Students protest discussion and rally in Yogyakarta

Hundreds of UGM and UII students staged protests on Monday (15/6/2026) rejecting government officials' presence and highlighting economic conditions and state policies.

The action at UGM occurred during a discussion titled "Pancasila Pemersatu Bangsa Indonesia" at GIK UGM. Students rejected three officials namely Nusron Wahid, Sudaryono, and Budiman Sudjatmiko as they were deemed unworthy to discuss Pancasila.

SEMA UGM chair Mesa stated the anger was triggered by government policies not siding with the people and programs such as MBG and KOPDES Merah Putih.

At Titik Nol Yogyakarta, UII students held a long march titled Menuju Indonesia Bangkrut. They voiced six demands including stopping MBG and KOPDES and lowering fuel prices.

Muhammad Radin Nabil Akbar from UII emphasized the need for more open and accountable government communication improvements.
