Tesla ends short-lived cheaper Cybertruck lease deal

Tesla introduced a more affordable Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive version of the 2026 Cybertruck on February 20, but removed the special lease option after just 10 days. The initial lease was $699 per month for 36 months, now replaced by a $849 per month option for the renamed Premium All-Wheel Drive trim. The starting price for the Dual Motor model has risen to $71,985 from $61,985.

On February 20, 2026, Tesla launched the Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive variant of the Cybertruck at a starting price of $61,985, $20,000 less than the existing All-Wheel Drive trim, which was renamed the Premium All-Wheel Drive. This new model came with a lease deal of $699 per month for 36 months, requiring $6,395 due at signing, resulting in an effective monthly cost of $877. This was significantly lower than the previous cheapest option at $1,031 effective monthly.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk commented on X in response to a post about the pricing: “Only for the next 10 days.” True to that, the promotional pricing and lease ended over the weekend, with the Dual Motor model's price increasing to $71,985 without changes to standard equipment. The current cheapest lease is $849 per month for 36 months with $6,544 due at signing on the Premium All-Wheel Drive. Financing for the Dual Motor trim carries a 5.29% APR for 72 months, higher than the 3.99% for other trims.

Tesla's configurator shows delivery for the Dual Motor Cybertruck in 2027, while other trims are available in four to six weeks. Cybertruck sales totaled 20,200 units in 2025, down from about 39,000 in 2024, far below the 250,000 annual production target. The brief promotion's impact on sales remains unclear, as Tesla does not provide detailed model-specific data.
