The Sims 4: Life and Death expansion introduces the Soul’s Journey, a new aspiration system for adult Sims that spans eight levels and enhances gameplay through bucket list completions. This feature rewards players with various bonuses, from extra satisfaction points to extended lifespans and afterlife options. It integrates life simulation with deeper narrative elements around purpose and legacy.
Overview of Soul’s Journey
The Soul’s Journey becomes available to Sims aged young adult and older in The Sims 4: Life and Death. Tracked via the Aspirations panel, it consists of eight progressive levels unlocked by fulfilling items on a personal bucket list. This system encourages Sims to pursue meaningful activities, blending daily life with long-term goals.
Progression and Rewards
Starting at the first level, The Road Ahead, Sims gain additional satisfaction points for reward-earning actions, accelerating trait and aspiration advancements. Level two, Making Headway, boosts skill point gains, allowing faster expertise development. By the third level, Finding Purpose, players access career performance improvements, computer purchase discounts, and a social interaction to share journey insights with others.
At level four, No Regrets, living Sims receive an extended lifespan, while ghosts can opt to move on to the afterlife. Level five, Quite a Journey, permits creating up to eight heirlooms and using a Pass Down interaction to impart knowledge. The sixth level, Dreams Fulfilled, marks the end for living Sims, unlocking Rebirth at death—restarting as a new Sim with past memories intact. Ghosts can rebirth anytime in Ravenwood's Baleful Bog.
Higher tiers include Newfound Purpose at level seven, offering bonus experience in Ghost Mastery, and the final Big Picture level, granting the Burning Soul trait for enhanced resilience in ghostly abilities. Reborn Sims retain one personality trait via Recall Past Life and can inherit reward traits through mirror interactions. Young reborn Sims unlock developmental skills immediately.
Benefits and Integration
Completing the journey provides living Sims with the Dreams Fulfilled moodlet for sustained confidence. This feature enriches The Sims 4 by tying personal growth to gameplay mechanics, afterlife exploration, and legacy building, without altering core simulation elements.
