Timrå Party criticizes proposed Torsboda sale to Google

The Timrå Party believes 2.1 billion kronor is too low a price for the Torsboda area to be sold to Google. They want better terms but still support the deal.

Timrå Party opposition councillor David Forslund criticised the price in the proposed agreement with Google. He pointed to high demand for land and electricity in the area.

Negotiations with Google have been ongoing since February 2025. Christian Söderberg, CEO of Torsboda Industrial Park, defended the sum as reasonable following advice from Cushman & Wakefield.

The deal covers shares in Torsbodabolaget, assumption of loans and infrastructure investments. Google plans a data centre for AI services. Decisions will be taken at extra municipal council meetings on 17 August in Timrå and Sundsvall.
