The 1986 animated film Transformers: The Movie will return to theaters in a 4K re-release on Sept. 17. Fathom Entertainment is partnering with Hasbro for the screenings, which will include a new post-credits sequence.
The re-release was announced at Comic-Con, where a new trailer debuted. Tickets go on sale Aug. 7, and the film will play in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Germany.
Directed by Nelson Shin, the movie features the voices of Orson Welles as Unicron, Robert Stack as Ultra Magnus and Leonard Nimoy as Galvatron. It forms part of Hasbro’s “Apology Tour” campaign marking the death of Optimus Prime, voiced by Peter Cullen.
The new cut adds an exclusive element to the original. Fans can also stream the soundtrack album The Transformers: The Movie: The Soundtrack: The Reformatted Edition, which includes the single “Nothing’s Gonna Stand In Our Way” featuring Sebastian Bach.
