US Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed support for candidate Abelardo De La Espriella two days before Colombia's presidential runoff.
Salazar signed a letter with other Congress members addressed to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. It stresses that Colombia "cannot become the next Cuba or Venezuela".
The lawmaker stated on her X account that she would not remain silent amid a smear campaign against De La Espriella. Johnson said he was enthusiastic about the progress of his conservative colleague and recalled UK-Colombia cooperation on security and the environment.
Argentine President Javier Milei also backed the candidate through a phone call. He shared on X the shared vision of "more freedom, more security and zero tolerance for organized crime and drug trafficking".
