The University of Santiago of Chile evacuated its campus in Estación Central on Thursday after receiving an anonymous email threatening explosives and a shooting.
Around 17:00 on Thursday, June 11, USACH received a mass anonymous email titled “Mataremos a todos en la Usach”. The message claimed that “we put explosives inside several of the campus buildings” and that it came from an organization affiliated with the Order of the Nine Angles.
The university immediately ordered the total preventive evacuation of the campus through its official channels and the Student Federation replicated the message on Instagram. The statement asked to evacuate in an orderly and calm manner, not to re-enter until official notice and not to handle suspicious objects.
GOPE personnel from Carabineros arrived to conduct the searches. By 17:50 the campus was fully evacuated and officers continued their work at the time of publication.
