Emails sent on Monday warned of explosives at multiple points in the Chilean capital, triggering GOPE operations and preventive evacuations.

The messages, sent by the user @Agonia67, reached institutions including the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM), the Juzgados Civiles, the Centro de Justicia, the Palacio de Tribunales and the Zoológico Metropolitano.

One email warned: “Hoy se producirá el ataque terrorista más grande, que será el número 1 en Wikipedia. Morirán los animales y ustedes, deshumanos”.

The SEREMI of Public Security for the Metropolitan Region, Juan Barrientos, confirmed that protocols were activated and that complaints would be filed for bomb threats and public alarm.

GOPE personnel inspected the sites and ruled out any explosive devices. The zoo remained closed for the rest of Monday and will reopen normally on Tuesday, June 23.

Cosa dice la gente

Initial reactions on X highlight concerns over potential political motivations behind the threats, accusations blaming extremist groups for causing panic, calls for emergency measures, and statements noting the threats appear aimed at gaining attention rather than serious attacks.
