Värnamo resident required to repay 694,200 kronor for incorrect sick pay

A person in Värnamo has received a repayment demand of 694,200 kronor from Försäkringskassan for sick pay received since 2022.

Försäkringskassan has withdrawn the sick pay after a control investigation. The investigation showed that the person both studied and applied for new jobs during the sick leave period.

The person's employer reported the circumstances to the authority. The decision states that the person demonstrated the ability to focus, collaborate and plan, which was assessed as work capacity.

The Värnamo resident applied for exemption from repayment but was denied. Försäkringskassan considered the error obvious and that the person has payment capacity with many years left in working life.
