Washington Commanders unveil championship-inspired uniforms for 2026

The Washington Commanders revealed new home, away and alternate uniforms for the 2026 season. The designs pay homage to the team's Super Bowl-winning era from 1982 to 1991. Ownership continues to honor the franchise's history while embracing the current identity.

The Washington Commanders unveiled their new uniforms, which closely resemble those worn during their three Super Bowl victories between 1982 and 1991. The home and away jerseys are nearly identical to the championship versions, with the only change being the helmet decal updated after the team's rebranding before the 2020 season. An alternate black uniform features a spear added to the 'W' logo, referencing the helmet design from the late 1960s. Team images shared online highlighted the details, captioned 'Assembly complete,' 'Without further ado,' and 'Down to the last detail.' with hashtags like #RaiseHail. Washington Commanders managing partner Josh Harris has led efforts to celebrate the franchise's past, particularly the Joe Gibbs era. The team recently retired numbers 28 of Hall of Fame cornerback Darrell Green and 81 of Hall of Fame receiver Art Monk. During that dynasty period, Gibbs coached the team to three Super Bowl wins with three different starting quarterbacks and a fourth appearance. Harris emphasized the growing significance of the Commanders name following a 2024 NFC Championship game run. 'I think it's now being embraced by our team, by our culture, by our coaching staff, so, we're going with that,' Harris said. 'Now, in this building, the name Commanders means something. It's about players who love football, are great at football, hit hard, mentally tough, great teammates. It's really meaningful that that name is growing in meaning.'
