West Virginia babysitter charged in death of 11-day-old boy

Taylor Flint faces child neglect resulting in death after an 11-day-old baby in her care died from traumatic injuries in October 2025. The infant suffered a fractured skull and other wounds while Flint's 3-year-old daughter was present. Prosecutors say Flint knew of her daughter's violent tendencies toward the baby.

On October 25, 2025, Taylor Flint, 25, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, was watching an 11-day-old baby boy while his mother remained hospitalized due to delivery complications. The baby, born on October 14, had been left in Flint's care along with her own 3-year-old daughter, whom Flint described to police as having a history of hitting, scratching, and biting the infant to gain attention. Flint noted her daughter's anger issues and undiagnosed neurological disorders, stating she had to remain cautious around the baby. Flint discovered the infant unresponsive in the early morning hours and called for help. Medical staff at the hospital found multiple traumatic injuries to the baby's face, head, and hands, including a fractured skull and severe intracranial damage. The boy went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at 4:49 a.m. According to the criminal complaint, Flint told investigators she had checked on the baby in his bassinet after using the bathroom at night and found her daughter hiding in a bedroom corner. She believed the toddler had beaten the infant several times with a jar of petroleum jelly. On March 26, the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney charged Flint with child neglect resulting in death. She was booked into the Western Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash bond, with a preliminary hearing set for April 2.
