WWE announces knee injury to champion Rhea Ripley

WWE announced on the June 12 edition of SmackDown that Women's Champion Rhea Ripley is being evaluated for a knee injury suffered last week in Italy.

Wade Barrett stated during the broadcast that Ripley sustained the injury while in Italy and is currently under medical evaluation.

The company said more details on her return date will follow once her response to treatment is assessed. Ripley had retained her title against Jade Cargill at WWE Clash in Italy in Turin and continued competing on the European Summer Tour, including a tag match with Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair.

Fans had observed a bandage on her leg during those appearances.
