Man held for Brattås double murder from 2005

A man in his mid-40s has been remanded in custody on probable cause for the unsolved double murder at a farm in Brattås outside Härnösand in the summer of 2005. The arrest was enabled by DNA-based genealogy research following a new law change last year. Prosecutor Hanna Flordal confirms the man's DNA matches the trace from the crime scene.
Robert William McCaffrey Jr., a 54-year-old man from North Carolina, faces charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and burglary in the 1990 killing of Lisa Marie McBride in New Jersey. Authorities arrested him last week in Manteo following breakthroughs in DNA technology. The case had remained unsolved for decades until recent forensic testing identified him as the suspect.
