Iranian strike on UAE tankers kills Indian seafarer, India lodges protest

An Indian seafarer was killed and several others injured when Iranian missiles struck two UAE oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz on July 14, 2026. India summoned Iran's deputy chief of mission to protest the attack.
Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi called India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday. The two discussed the ceasefire, bilateral relations and regional issues in detail. Jaishankar said they agreed to remain in close touch.
