The main blaze of a wildfire in the southeastern city of Miryang was extinguished on Tuesday noon. The fire, which started Monday afternoon, affected 143 hectares some 280 kilometers southeast of Seoul, leading to the evacuation of 184 residents and patients. Rain and firefighting efforts helped contain it.

A wildfire in South Korea's southern Hamyang County has raged for a third day as firefighters and forestry officials race to contain the main blaze by the end of Monday. The fire, which broke out around 9 p.m. Saturday, has burned 190 hectares, with a containment rate of 32 percent as of 5 a.m. Monday.

A wildfire broke out on Mount Bukhan in Seoul late Saturday but was almost contained after about three hours, officials said. The fire started around 7:25 p.m. and was 95 percent contained by 10:10 p.m. The risk of it spreading to nearby areas appears low.

The National Service for Prevention and Response to Disasters (Senapred) declared a red alert in Combarbalá commune, Coquimbo Region, due to a wildfire threatening nearby homes. The fire, driven by strong winds, consumed 1.3 hectares in the Mal Paso sector. Later, the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) reported the incident was controlled with no injuries.
