200 km of safe paths built in eastern State of Mexico

Two hundred kilometers of safe paths have already been built across ten municipalities in the eastern State of Mexico. The work is part of the Camina Libre, Camina Segura project driven by federal and state governments.

The interventions carried out during 2025 covered 250 streets. Workers installed 6,093 LED luminaires, panic buttons and rehabilitated sidewalks. They also painted 52 murals covering more than 2,500 square meters.

The program has a total investment of 3 billion pesos between 2025 and 2028. For 2026 another 600 million pesos are allocated to intervene on 300 additional kilometers across 194 streets in Chalco, Chicoloapan, Chimalhuacán, Ecatepec, Ixtapaluca, Nezahualcóyotl, La Paz, Texcoco, Tlalnepantla and Valle de Chalco.

The works receive support from the Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes. They form part of the Plan Integral para la Zona Oriente del Estado de México that seeks to reduce urban lag and improve security and mobility.
