Authorities capture finance coordinator of dissidents in Algeciras

Authorities captured Samael Caicedo Córdoba, alias Samael, identified as finance coordinator of the Iván Díaz Front in Algeciras, Huila.

The capture took place on the road connecting the urban area of Algeciras with the El Pomo village. Troops from the Batallón de Alta Montaña N.° 9 stopped Caicedo Córdoba while he traveled on a motorcycle.

They found an IM-26 fragmentation grenade, 4,500,000 pesos in cash, a Casio watch and a cell phone in his possession. Brigadier General César Augusto Suarez Giraldo, commander of the Ninth Brigade of the Army in Huila, confirmed the operation was based on military intelligence.

Alias Samael coordinated extortion activities in Algeciras, Gigante and El Hobo, according to Lieutenant Colonel Andrés Felipe Ávila. The detainee has prior records for vehicle reception and drug trafficking.
