Military forces seize drones and explosives in Micay River

Colombia's Navy, along with the Army and Aerospace Force, found clandestine deposits during an operation in Cauca on June 16, 2026.

Units from the Batallón Fluvial de Infantería de Marina No. 42 confronted eight armed men in three high-powered boats on the Micay River. The men opened fire and fled.

Troops later located two illegal deposits linked to the Grupo Armado Organizado Residual Estructura Sexta “Jaime Martínez”. Items found included 13 drones, two pistols, more than 400 rounds of ammunition, ten cell phones and two laptops.

Nearly 350 kilograms of explosives, grenades and homemade rockets were also seized. The material was destroyed in a controlled manner by specialized personnel.
