Bertrand Peto posted statements on Instagram on June 14, 2026, defending Ruben Onsu. He accused Sarwendah's family of spreading hatred and restricting father-child meetings.
Bertrand Peto asked a member of Sarwendah's family to stop efforts to foster hatred toward Ruben Onsu. He wrote that Ruben only stayed silent even though for nearly two years his income was arranged to be cut off.
In another post, Bertrand revealed that he and his siblings were once asked to appear stressed when Ruben Onsu converted to Islam. He stated the doctrine received did not match his experience living with his father.
Ruben Onsu said he wants to meet the children intimately without intermediaries. He noted that discussions through legal counsel are ongoing.
National Commission for Child Protection chairman Agustinus Sirait reminded that children should not be brought into social media due to negative impacts on their mental health.
