BJP criticises DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin for Sanatana Dharma remarks

The Bharatiya Janata Party has condemned DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remarks on Sanatana Dharma made in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Union ministers and party spokespersons criticised the comments as divisive and targeted the Congress for its support. They also questioned the silence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on the issue.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday condemned DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remarks on Sanatana Dharma in the State Assembly.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy said through a post on X that DMK’s poisonous politics, anti-Hindu rhetoric, corruption and dynastic politics have all been vehemently rejected by the people of Tamil Nadu. He added that this is not the first time Rahul Gandhi-led Congress INDI alliance leaders have spewed venom against Sanatana Dharma.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla stated that this is not a coincidence but an exercise in vote-bank politics. He noted that earlier the Supreme Court had called this hate speech but Congress supported the statement. He said Congress, TMC, SP, and DMK all have one plan to insult Sanatan Hindus to run their vote-bank politics.

The party’s IT cell in charge, Amit Malviya, said the last time Udhayanidhi Stalin spoke about eradicating Sanatana Dharma, the courts called it hate speech and the people of Tamil Nadu pushed his party into the opposition. He added that mocking and targeting the faith of millions is not political courage but arrogance.
