The lifeless body of a 15-year-old Norwegian girl was found this morning about 200 meters off the coast of Mogán municipality in Gran Canaria. The minor was on vacation with her family, and her mother had previously reported her missing. The Civil Guard is investigating the circumstances of the death.
The Civil Guard reported that the body was located between Puerto Base and Balito beach, at the height of the GC-200 road. According to the agency, the girl's mother alerted the 112 emergency service that her daughter had not returned to their accommodation. She then went to the Civil Guard post in Puerto Rico, Mogán, to file a missing person report and later identified the body as her daughter's.
The Emergency and Security Coordination Center (112) received notification of a body floating about 100 meters off the coast around 9 a.m. At the scene, the technical team from the Civil Guard's Judicial Police is working to clarify the causes of death.
The family, Norwegian nationals, was vacationing on the island. Neither the Civil Guard nor 112 has specified the exact time of the mother's initial alert.
