The National Meteorological Service announces the arrival of cold front 24 in the early hours of Friday, December 26, starting in Baja California. This system will interact with a mid- and high-level trough, producing strong wind gusts, rains, and showers in the Baja California peninsula and Sonora. There is a chance of sleet in the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir in Baja California.
The lowest temperatures are expected in mountainous areas: -10 to -5 degrees in Baja California, Chihuahua, and Durango; -5 to 0 degrees in Sonora, Nuevo León, Zacatecas, Estado de México, Tlaxcala, and Puebla. Other highlands in Coahuila, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Veracruz, and Oaxaca will see lows of 0 to 5 degrees.
Regarding precipitation, intense rains are forecast for Veracruz, especially in the Papaloapan, Los Tuxtlas, and Olmeca regions. Very strong to intense rains will affect northern Oaxaca, northern Chiapas, and the west and south of Tabasco. Showers with heavy rain are expected in the mountainous region of Veracruz and parts of Puebla, while intervals of showers will occur in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Veracruz, Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán.
Cold conditions and isolated rains will impact Chihuahua, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Estado de México, Mexico City, and Morelos.
In notable contrast, Baja California Sur, southern Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco coast, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Isthmus and Oaxaca coast, Isthmus and Chiapas coast, Campeche, and Yucatán will reach 35 to 40 degrees. Temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees are predicted in southwestern Chihuahua, western Durango, southwestern Puebla, and Quintana Roo.
