The heat wave, driven by high solar radiation, low rainfall probability, and anticyclonic circulation, will affect areas from northern to southeastern Mexico this weekend. The National Meteorological Service of the National Water Commission details extreme temperatures of 40 to 45 °C in regions including Chihuahua (southwest), Durango (northwest), Coahuila (center and northeast), Nuevo León (east), Tamaulipas (west and southwest), Sinaloa (north and center), Jalisco (south and southwest), Michoacán (center and southwest), San Luis Potosí (center and south), Guanajuato (northeast), Querétaro (north), Hidalgo (north), Morelos (south), Guerrero (north and northwest), Veracruz (center and south), Oaxaca (north and center), Tabasco (east), Chiapas (northeast), Campeche (north, west, and southwest), Yucatán (west and southwest), and Quintana Roo (west).
Other areas like Baja California Sur (south), Sonora, Nayarit, Colima, Zacatecas, and Aguascalientes (west), as well as Puebla (north and southwest), will see 35 to 40 °C.
In Mexico City and the State of Mexico, highs will range from 31 to 33 °C with clear skies and high ultraviolet radiation. Atmospheric conditions could worsen air quality, keeping the environmental contingency in place.
