Egypt attracted 15.5 billion dollars in foreign direct investment during 2025, ranking first in Africa and second in the Arab world. The figure was announced by Minister Mohamed Farid at the Cairo launch of a United Nations report.
Minister Mohamed Farid announced the forthcoming national strategy targeting 12 priority economic sectors, with eight sectors ready for quick investment and four needing further reforms. He also highlighted the Economic Entities Platform covering 468 activities to simplify company procedures.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty attended and stressed ongoing economic reforms and private sector empowerment. The UNCTAD report showed global FDI rising 6 percent to 1.6 trillion dollars in 2025, while Africa received about 70 billion dollars.
Farid noted Egypt retained its top African ranking for the second consecutive year amid global shifts toward sectors like Artificial Intelligence and clean energy.
