Persib Bandung coach Igor Tolic stated that the Indonesian national team must target the AFF Cup 2026 title, not just runner-up.
Igor Tolic expressed his hope for the Indonesian national team ahead of the AFF Cup 2026. He believes the Garuda squad should not settle for just advancing from the group or finishing as runner-up.
"The national team has taken almost all our best players. So I only have one hope for them, which is to become champions," Tolic said. He added that nearly two months of preparation should lead to lifting the trophy.
Persib Bandung is the club contributing the most players. Names such as Thom Haye, Marc Klok, Beckham Putra, Saddil Ramdani, Sandy Walsh, Ragnar Oratmangoen, and Eliano Reijnders are projected to feature in John Herdman's 23-man squad.
Indonesia will begin their campaign in Group A against Cambodia on 27 July 2026 at Pakansari Stadium. The tournament runs from 24 July to 26 August.
