President José Antonio Kast pledged a working group to promote sports infrastructure during the Cuenta Pública. Sports Minister Natalia Duco backed the initiative and said all clubs deserve their own stadium.
During his Cuenta Pública speech on June 1, President José Antonio Kast announced the establishment of a working group to accelerate the construction of sports venues through public-private agreements.
“We are going to turn the State into an articulator of these major initiatives,” Kast said. He added that sports spaces benefit all of Chile and not just one club.
Sports Minister Natalia Duco, when asked about the project for Universidad de Chile, stated that all sports clubs deserve to have a stadium. “It is much more than a sports venue,” she said, highlighting its social role for families and communities.
Duco also addressed the implementation of the new Ley de Sociedades Anónimas Deportivas, noting that the ministry is working on the regulations with listening sessions for those involved. The application period is 18 months.
