Kwankwaso threatens N10bn lawsuit against Primate Ayodele

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has threatened to sue Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele for N10 billion over alleged defamatory remarks made in a livestreamed sermon. The legal notice demands a retraction and apology within 24 hours.

The Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress and former Governor of Kano State issued the threat through his lawyers on June 11, 2026. The notice, made public by his media aide Hon. Saifullahi Hassan, accuses Ayodele of calling Kwankwaso “fake to Obi” and claiming he was paid to accept the vice-presidential position.

The letter states the remarks are “false, malicious and defamatory” and were circulated widely on social media. It highlights Kwankwaso’s decades of public service as governor, minister, senator, deputy speaker and presidential candidate.

Ayodele must publish a full retraction and apology with equal prominence and provide a written undertaking not to repeat the statements. Failure to comply will result in legal proceedings seeking N10 billion in damages plus costs.
