Manchester United's proposed signing of midfielder Ederson from Atalanta has fallen through due to issues identified in medical tests. The club had agreed a €45 million deal last month but decided against completing the move. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the transfer is now off.
Manchester United had reached an agreement with Atalanta for the Brazilian midfielder last month. The deal was valued at €45 million and aimed to strengthen the squad after Casemiro's departure from Old Trafford.
Recent medical tests raised concerns that led United to withdraw from the agreement. Atalanta maintains that Ederson remains fully fit and expects him to return for the new Serie A season.
The club had already secured another Brazilian midfielder, Andrey Santos, from Chelsea in a separate £50 million deal earlier this week. United are now expected to pursue other targets such as Roma's Manu Kone or Bournemouth's Alex Scott.
