Mexico state government inaugurates Christmas tree expo in Metepec

The Government of the State of Mexico, led by Governor Delfina Gómez, inaugurated the Expo Navidad Forestal 2025 in Metepec to promote the sustainable sale of natural Christmas trees. The expo aims to bolster the forestry economy and encourage environmentally responsible practices. It will remain open until December 14.

The Expo Navidad Forestal Estado de México 2025 was inaugurated at the Parque Bicentenario in Metepec, specifically in the Parque Canino of the Parque Ambiental Bicentenario. The event, open until December 14, 2025, from 10:00 to 21:00 hours, aims to promote the sustainable commercialization of natural Christmas trees and strengthen the forestry sector.

Horacio Duarte Olivares, Secretary General of Government, represented Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez and highlighted: “We are the number one producer in the country and several municipalities like Amecameca, Tlamanalco, Xonacatlán, Villa del Carbón, Jalatlaco, and Valle de Bravo have become very important producers for our country.” He added that each tree purchased contributes to responsible forest management and the regeneration of forests.

María Eugenia Rojano Valdés, Secretary of the Field, emphasized: “For the good of the countryside and the city, forests first. Our forests are life, identity, culture, and the future as well.” Meanwhile, Alejandro Sánchez Vélez, Director General of Probosque, noted that the expo allows families to choose natural trees from legal and certified plantations that protect the soil, generate jobs, and strengthen the economy.

The venue features sustainable crafts made by over 70 master artisans, natural Christmas trees from 1.80 to 3.00 meters tall in three different species, palm and corn leaf items, poinsettias, and other products.

The initiative reaffirms the Government of Delfina Gómez's commitment to sustainable forest management, innovation in the sector, and the promotion of forest education and culture, boosting community economies and encouraging an ecosystem-responsible Christmas. Attendees included Nelly Minerva Carrasco, Secretary of Culture and Tourism; Hilda Salazar Gil, Secretary of the Comptroller; Alhely Rubio Arronis, Secretary of Environment; José Arnulfo Silva Adaya, Secretary of Water; Elisa Martínez Maldonado, Director of Environment in Metepec; and María José Villanueva Noriega, General Director of WWF in Mexico, along with producers.
