North West commits funding for green enterprises

The North West provincial government has announced it will allocate funds for green enterprises. Premier Lazarus Mokgosi made the commitment at the Green Youth Indaba held at Sun City on Saturday.

Premier Lazarus Mokgosi spoke at the 11th annual Green Youth Indaba, which ran under the theme “From Youth Innovation to Green Enterprise and Economic Impact”. The event drew young people from the North West and neighbouring provinces along with industry leaders and investors.

Mokgosi said the government would reinforce budget allocations to support entrepreneurship and opportunities for young people entering the green economy. He noted that the sector represents a new area for business, innovation and research.

The green economy covers businesses with low carbon emissions. The two-day gathering explored opportunities in this sector.
