Western Huila prepares for a significant cultural event on December 20 at Paicol's Main Park. The Opera for Peace in the West will feature lyrical voices, a live orchestra, and Christmas dances in a free spectacle. The concert aims to promote resilience and reconciliation in a region impacted by recent public order incidents.
Western Huila is gearing up for one of the year's most important cultural gatherings. On December 20, starting at 5:00 p.m., Paicol's Main Park will host the Opera for Peace in the West. This spectacle will bring together lyrical voices, a live orchestra, and Christmas dances, delivering a high-caliber artistic evening to the region.
The event takes place amid recent public order incidents that have disrupted tranquility and local economy in several Huila municipalities. Commerce, tourism, and rural productivity have faced significant setbacks. In response, the Huila Chamber of Commerce has called for unity: “It is essential for all Huilenses to support this area of the department, accompany its inhabitants, and send a clear message of resilience, hope, and collective commitment to peace and development”.
The initiative is backed by the Huila Governor's Office and the mayors of La Plata, Tesalia, Paicol, Nátaga, and La Argentina. These bodies have collaborated to blend art, tradition, and messages of reconciliation, particularly during the holiday season of family gatherings.
Local residents and visitors are welcome to this free concert, which promises an unforgettable night under Paicol's sky. The performance aims to inspire hope and dedication to peace in the area.
