Rain and unsettled weather expected across Sweden this weekend

A low-pressure system from South Norway is moving into Sweden, bringing rain and strong winds over the weekend. Meteorologist Katarina Andersson at SMHI warns of unsettled weather with sun chances mainly in the south.

The low-pressure system reaches central Sweden on Friday before moving toward the Baltics in the afternoon. Large amounts of precipitation and thunderstorms are expected in eastern Svealand, Dalarna and southern Norrland while central and northern Norrland as well as the west coast may see sun.

On Saturday the unsettled weather continues with heavy showers and thunderstorms in eastern Svealand and along the Norrland coast. Sunday brings mixed conditions with some sun possible in southern Sweden while rain affects other parts of the country.

Temperatures range from 17 to 20 degrees on Friday and drop to around 15 degrees in rainy areas. The cool and unstable weather persists into next week with strong winds favorable for kitesurfing on Öland.

By mid-next week a new high-pressure ridge may bring more stable and warmer conditions but no new heat wave is expected according to SMHI.
