The prime minister announced on Tuesday at the National Assembly a possible revision of credit freezes planned to cover costs from the Middle East war.
Sébastien Lecornu said on Tuesday that the six billion euros in credit freezes could be updated. He clarified that this update would not necessarily mean an increase but a different distribution of the measures.
The prime minister will hold a press conference on Thursday on the economic consequences of the conflict. He will present a new package of aid for June targeting affected sectors such as agriculture, fishing and construction.
The government had announced these savings for 2026 in mid-April, with four billion euros on the state and two billion in the social sphere. Lecornu noted that the geopolitical crisis was settling in for the long term and was affecting energy prices.
