The decision on the travel advisory was taken on Saturday, February 28, 2026, after the US and Israel initiated attacks against Iran. Earlier that day, reports emerged of explosions in, among other places, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The advisory does not apply to transit flights at certain airports in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Travel advisories have previously been in place for several other countries in the region, including Israel and Iran.
