A group of thieves broke into a jewelry store in Coslada early on Saturday morning, stealing dozens of valuable pieces using the alunizaje method. During their escape, they rammed police vehicles and tried to run over officers, prompting shots fired into the air. The chase lasted about 20 kilometers before the criminals fled.
The robbery took place just after 5 a.m. at Joyería González, located at Calle Olmo number 3 in Coslada, a town east of Madrid. Witnesses reported that four thieves arrived in a dark Alfa Romeo car and moved a trash container to reach the pedestrian area in front of the store. They hooked a cable to the door, pulled it open, and then used picks, mallets, and a radial saw to break the glass and enter. Inside, they looted nearly all the merchandise, taking dozens of jewelry pieces.
Neighbors quickly alerted the Local Police, who dispatched three patrols to the scene. Officers tried to block the exit by parking a vehicle in the container's gap, but the thieves managed to escape via Calle Doctor Michavila. At that point, they attempted to run over two police officers who were trying to intercept them outside their cars. Facing immediate danger, one agent fired several shots into the air with his regulation pistol. It is unclear if any bullet hit the thieves' vehicle, though one shot struck the facade of a nearby café on the same street.
The pursuit stretched through Coslada's streets, including Virgen de la Cabeza to the Transport Center, and then along the M-40, M-21, N-II, and M-45 highways toward the N-III. Police came within meters of the fugitives during the roughly 20-kilometer chase but ultimately lost them on the M-45 ring road, heading to Torrejón de Ardoz, San Fernando de Henares, and Valencia. Police sources later stated on social media that the Alfa Romeo might have been abandoned in a vacant lot near that area, indicating the thieves possibly veered off the road and fled on foot. The Judicial Police are now investigating to identify these experienced criminals in such heists.
