Weekend brings heat and storms to Madrid

Temperatures will reach up to 36 degrees this weekend in the Madrid region, with storms forecast for Sunday.

Saturday is expected to be stable with intervals of high clouds. Highs will range between 32 and 36 degrees, with more heat in the south and lows above 20 degrees in areas such as Getafe.

On Sunday AEMET has issued a yellow warning for storms in the Sierra during the central hours. Showers will spread in the afternoon to the rest of the region and may be accompanied by very strong wind gusts.

Sunday highs will remain between 33 and 36 degrees in Alcalá de Henares. AEMET spokesperson Rubén del Campo noted that heat will coexist with atmospheric instability this weekend.
