Ignacio Mier Velazco will succeed him, and López will retain his Senate seat without requesting leave, participating in debates like the electoral reform while prioritizing territorial organization in key regions. In Guerrero, López will coordinate Morena's structure, as confirmed by Jacinto González Verona, president of the state's Morena Executive Committee. 'Usually they send someone from outside because those inside are caught up in their aspirations and forget the structural part,' explained González Verona, noting the party was aware of the change in advance. This role is part of a broader effort in the Fourth Electoral District, including Guerrero, Morelos, Mexico City, and Tlaxcala, though López will also support other states like Chihuahua, where he predicted Senator Andrea Chávez will be the candidate and governor. 'I maintain that the senator will be the candidate and will be the governor of the state of Chihuahua. Chihuahua deserves a good government now,' López stated.
