AIK has signed 22-year-old defenseman Edvin Isén to a two-season agreement running through the 2027/28 season. The move makes permanent his earlier loan stint with the HockeyAllsvenskan club, where he recorded two assists in nine games. Isén joins from Tyresö/Hanviken after a strong performance of 25 points in 35 regular-season matches.
AIK announced the signing on its website, fulfilling a dream Isén discussed in an interview with HockeyNews last fall. The defenseman had been on loan with AIK during the past season but faced initial resistance from Tyresö/Hanviken. Now secured for two years, he expressed excitement about the opportunity. “It feels incredibly fun to get this chance to represent AIK and I am very proud of it. I hope to contribute my skills and abilities on the ice,” Isén said. AIK sports director Lasse Johansson praised the player's potential based on his loan performance. “We had Edvin on loan this season and really liked what we saw already then. Now we tie him to AIK for two seasons and work together to create an even better hockey player for AIK,” Johansson stated. Isén took an unconventional path, skipping hockey gymnasium and working as an electrician alongside his playing career. Tyresö/Hanviken sports director Mats Börjel had commended his skills earlier, noting his offensive strengths and areas for defensive improvement like play without the puck. The club sees long-term value in the 22-year-old, who demonstrated readiness for higher-level competition.
